Bonsai Bagels has been bustling along on its road – pushing forward and evolving as a business. We started out under Covid-19 restrictions, and so set up shop for takeaway bags of sesame bagels. That was it: one product.
Within a short period of a couple of weeks, after the initial rush of a new product in the Okanagan died down, we launched our first cream cheeses in four flavours: plain, cinnamon-brown sugar, blue cheese and caramalised onion, and jalapeno garlic cheddar. We also started putting together a hummus to take advantage of all the delicious roast sesame seeds.
At the same time, we were busy trying to update the signage on our building to represent Bonsai Bagels with a fresh, clean and
Soon, we started planning our grand opening – to be a lively affair with a jazz trio, wine, beer and other beverages. We had a blast (and hopefully so did you!).
Now, we’re rounding half a year and heading back towards a first full year in business… life is busy!

- Starting to introduce organic flour
- Sourced organic sesame and poppy seeds (but don’t have them yet)
- Looking at malt options
- Upcoming pricing changes (for dozens and in-shop menu items, half-dozens to stay the same)
- Increased price of ingredients
- Upgrades to ingredients
- Pushing to participate more in community events! We want to be where you are, but that means that we’ve got to hire on a little help…
